Resource Guide

Everyone has access to our resource guide put together by a community dedicated to helping homeschoolers everywhere. However, we hope you’ll choose to join our group and become a member which grants access to all of the following resources too!

Support

Membership gains you support when and where you need it most. You can get answers to almost any question through our email lists, our "Torchbearer" Facebook group, or at support meetings. The collective wisdom of our members spans decades and we are all here to support each other.

As the metro area has grown we have new opportunities to offer in-person support too. Each neighborhood has 2 neighborhood captains who are your first contacts to help you connect with others who live near you.

Field Trips

Get outside and learn! Our hardworking volunteers put together both local and regional field trips so that your kids can go on both educational field trips offered to school groups and to unique events of particular interest to our members. We also offer special multi-day trips like our upcoming Eastern Oregon trip where we will visit the high desert museum, lava beds, observatory and finish up on Sunday with Mass at St Francis of Assisi Church, the oldest Catholic church in Oregon, and a tour of their former school.

Academic Opportunities

It can be daunting to keep track of all the opportunities out there for your kids, so let us do the heavy lifting. We will let you know when and where academic opportunities arise. In the past we have organized groups to participate in Providence Health Care Career highlights, RC Challenge, the National Latin Exam, Spelling Bee and annual testing at group rates.

Girls Cub Scout Pack #148

We are excited to have recently launched a Catholic all-girls Cub Scout pack! Cub scouts is for kids ages 5-11 and our girls focus on having fun while learning about the world and their Faith by earning their ranks and participating in the patch program offered by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.

Summer Activities

Park days are a wonderful low-key way to get to know the homeschoolers in your area. Your kids get to burn off energy while you both get to make new friends.

For 21 years we have gotten together for our annual July camping trip at Schwarz Park. Over the years we have done everything from simply relaxing together for a few days to structured and organized group activities. Either way, it is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, enjoy life and get to spend time with friends both old and new.

Other Good Stuff

You won't have to miss the cap and gown graduation as members of our group! Being a member gains you access to graduation ceremonies we support, or you can rent our graduation supplies for your individual group to have your own smaller ceremony.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your membership also gains you discounts at various businesses including HSLDA.

We are working towards making our library available to our members again as soon as we find a suitable location (and once social distancing can be relaxed!).
